I first did the Trans-Siberian Railroad; it is 10,000 km (6k miles) from Moscow to Vladivostok. I only made it as far as Baikal. It is a trip that every single guy should take.
Best to learn a little Russian before the trip.

Were your journeys on the Railroad memorable for the scenery as well as the interactions (including the women)?
The guy in the video (Peter) traveled in the lower-class carriages, which had its pros and cons. There was a distinct lack of privacy, but of course this opened him up to many interesting experiences and lots of socialising, despite having minimal Russian language skills. Having decent vodka drinking skills could be handy too!
